Just for fun.

Have you ever been trying so hard to get ready fast and outta your house? Of course you have. But anyways, I'm about to meet up with my dad to go some last minute Christmas shopping (yes, I know it's Christmas Eve eve, we are a couple of crazies) and my cat Chip always gets in the way on my sink! He's such a distraction from knocking makeup and hair supplies off the sink to just whipping his tail in my face while applying mascara. Am I the only one with such a lovable cat that tries to distract me from l leaving the house with all his cuteness?
He wouldn't let me take a good picture of him. Love this lil rascal. :)

Together Again

Reunited and it feels so good!!! Lol. So Megan is back from college on Christmas break and we got together. We decided to do a blog post together to celebrate! (To differentiate who is talking, Megan will be italicized.)

I have been bugging Ash for weeks now to let me play around with her Urban Decay Naked 3 palette, and we were finally able to do this. I am super excited. Let's do this!

For our first look, we followed this YouTube tutorial by AllThatFresh using the Naked 3. Megan is the model for this look. (I kept begging her to not go too dark, I'm definitely a natural look kinda girl haha.). But by the end, Megan was very happy with the look we came up with, so much so that she didn't want to wipe it off at the end of the night. (I was a little skeptical at first, but it grew on me! I was a little terrified of some of the colors- looking at you, Darkside!- and at first I thought it was borderline too dark. But as the night went on, I definitely grew to love it.) It used Strange, Nooner, and Darkside. You can find the tutorial here (http://youtu.be/Eg7dgz5dxes).

This is the finished look.  After the picture was taken, Ash peer pressured me into a pinkish red lipstick/lip gloss combo ( "Hollywood" by Be A Bombshell and "Strawberry" by Bite- which looks at first like a Barbie Doll pink but they blended perfectly!).
This was before I was pressured into the prefect lip color.
Here's a closeup of the finished eye. Ash blended the colors so well. It photographs really well.

Our second look, I went with a day time look since Megan did. Yes, I'm going to blame her for that. Lol. But I still wanted to have boldness in there too. I used my Revealed palette that I recently got. And wow! I really liked it. It was such a good look and Megan did a great job applying my eye makeup.

We found a Youtube tutorial by Lipgloss Leslie that utilized quite a bit of the Revealed palette. You can find it here (http://youtu.be/o_h4IUVyWXY)

I ended up pairing the look with a bold red lip, "Chile Red" by Laura Geller. Here's the finished look.
Gorgeous!!
Here's a closeup of Ash's Revealed eye.

After looking great with our makeup looks of experiments we had to go out to Walmart and look at some costemics aisle! A girl can never have enough. ;) but I was actually good and didn't get any, of course I pressured Megan into getting a plaette, it didn't take a whole lot of pressure. Lol. (It was $5, how could I resist? Haha)
No we didn't take a selfie in the makeup aisle just so you can see how glamourous we look! Wow, I really need to get some self tanner or sun.

We decided to do a couple more looks for each other once we had snackage and were back at the house. Both looks were darker and more dramatic in nature... Oh god...

For me, Ashley wanted to really push me past the point of no return and we did a super dramatic tutorial, edited for our materials at hand. For example, we didn't have that giant black pencil as a base so Ash pulled from her Revealed palette and used the near black from it. The tutorial we used was by KathleenLights located here (http://youtu.be/abq5ReFaqec).

I was finally able to line my waterline for once in my life!! I am pretty proud of myself, and I didn't even poke myself in the eye. Big win!
Ashley did a dramatic wing with angle brush and this purple cream eyeliner ("Eggplant"  high intensity pigment by L'Oreal) on my left eye and we loved it.

With my look, I found a tutorial that just grabbed my attention; it was by KathleenLights (again!), who is one of my favorite youtubers. You can find the tutorial here (http://youtu.be/-SK5QR4ceRc).  I really like the pinkish romantic colors.
Probably not my best pic (lazy eye alert) and this look was kinda flop for us. We learned an important lesson. With a soft romantic look, don't use liquid eyeliner. The eyeliner becomes very harsh looking and just not romantic at all. We really should've used a pencil for the finishing liner but I just wanted to try out the Laura Geller Classic Tip Liquid Liner in black. Megan did my right eye, which was a lil too bold of a line but hey, we both never used a liquid pencil before. Lol. (Sorry girl!) I think this pencil would be better suited for a more dramatic look. We used all the colors in the Naked 3 palette but a purple shade that came from Wet N'Wild palette that is called Knock on Wood.
The picture actually doesn't look that bad, and I should probably add that we did turn blending some shadow ("Buzz" from the Naked 3 palette) into it to blend the black down. Also need to work on the winging on myself. However, I did do it perfect on Megan's look, if I do say so myself!

As we finish this, it is 1:50am our time, so we are signing off. By the time we post this, though, it will have been proofread and hopefully read coherently. Goodnight world.

December Boxycharm!

Hey guys! Ashley here. :)

So I get boxycharm which is a subscription box that you recieve every month. I think it's $21 a month with no shipping cost. And the best thing about boxycharm, I think anyways, is you get 5-6 full size items! How cool is that? But that's not really the best part, the value of the items always is over $100 per box. Super cool. Okay, I sound like a sales rep or something. Sorry I just get so excited about this months subscription. It's like Christmas when it comes in the mail. Lol. Anyways, I have been signed up since October this year and I haven't been disappointed with a box yet. Knock on wood. I just love trying out new products that I would probably never buy cause of the cost or I haven't heard of them.
Enough of the ramblings! This month is themed jingle bells for Christmas of course. :)

This is the card that shows the products in the box, prices, and how to use the products.

Boxycharm also gives its charmers (what they call their customers) lil sneak peaks on what will be in the box for the month. This box had the sneak peaks of the Revealed palette, Linda Lashes mink, and Mistura retractable brush. I had never heard of any of these brands so I started to search YouTube and the Internet for reviews of course.

The product I found most interesting is the palette. Many people compare it to Urban Decay's naked palette! I was really excited to get this. I actually own the naked 3 and love it. It's pretty much my go to. The colors in the Revealed palette are very sheer it seems so far. I haven't got to play with it much yet. Reviews will come!
Note: this palette has 20 shadows (more than the Naked palettes) that feel so creamy! Also I went to the Costal Scents website and this was actually $10 on sale, not sure how long the sale lasted though.

Next item the Linda Lashes mink lashes. I haven't ever worn fake lashes... So I'm not too excited about these. They just seem almost too glamourous for me. They are very pretty though. I am a pretty plain girl when it comes to makeup but I'm trying to come outta my shell, lately anyways. I already have  2 pairs of lashes that I got on sale from ELF cosmetics that I have yet to use. I think I may practice with those before using the super nice mink ones.
Look at those! I wish my lashes were like that for real! So glamorous for $30. That's expensive!

Up next, Mistura Beauty Solutions retractable beauty brush. I was really excited about this one after I saw the sneak peak. I travel a lot to see my boyfriend so when I pack, I cringe Having to bring my brushes. I'm always worried about bending them, and those puppies aren't cheap. What's a girl to do, right?! But about this brush! It's so easy to twist up and out the brush comes! The brush itself is super soft but it smells weird like plastic almost. Idk I have a weird habit of smelling things that I use on my face. Lol. I'll just wash it before I use it for sure.

Be a Bombshell lip stick. My color was Hollywood. And can you say red?! I can totally see this being for a Christmas party which is totally a good idea. I haven't tried a lot of Be a Bombshell products. I think it must be a boxycharm frequent brand cause I got an eyeshadow in a previous box.
I took a swatch since the color is a lil not true to the stick. It's more a hot pinky color than a red which is a lil disappointing but it's still a pretty pink. Also that stuff is on when you swipe it where you want it. I had to scrub my hand with soap to get it off. I may really like it on the lips for long lasting.

And last the Eva NYC hairspray. This is the typical hairspray but it does have a great smell to it! It is in travel size which is 1.5 oz. Not much to say about it.

To conclude I give the December box 4 stars. The only complaint I have at the moment is me not knowing how to apply fake lashes. Lol.

OPI's "Viking in a Vinter Vonderland"

Hey y'all!

My finals are OVER!!! We can now resume our regularly scheduled blogging schedule... umm... yeah.

Anyways.  I recently got a couple new fingernail polishes when Ulta was having a special (buy two OPI polishes and you get a free scarf).  Free scarf?! Heck yes. I went with a friend and I picked up an old favorite (Bubble Bath, which is a pale pinkish nude color) and I got a new purple called "Viking in a Vinter Vonderland".  I can hear Ashley now ("Of course you got a purple").

It was a different purple than what I thought it would be, and looked different in different lights.  Sometimes it looked like it had a more blue undertone, and other times it looked like it had a redish undertone.  I couldn't pin it down.  It's definitely a rich color, but you definitely need to put on even layers, at least two, because it highlights imperfections.

One coat of Viking

Second coat

All in all, I liked the color.  It's not one of my favorites, to be honest, but it's definitely going to be put to good use.

Christmas Wish List

Merry Christmas everyone!! We hope you have an amazing Christmas time with lots of wonderful food and beautiful makeup gift sets. :)

Ashley's Christmas wish list.

I would love to try out some morphe shadows. I've heard some great things about them from many youtubers. The it's bling and color glam palettes just stand out to me for some reason. I really like the it's bling palette cause they are suppose to be metallic colors which is something I don't have in my eye shadows collection. The color glam palette has all those colors! I usually don't go towards a lot of bright colors. I like more pinks and purples in eye shadows. These two eye shadow palettes would make me try new options for eye shadows.

35E - it's bling palette
35B - color glam palette

I don't have any highlighters so I would like to try one out. This is another product that I have heard good things about. I really want the Becca shimmering skin perfector pressed in opal. I actually have a couple of gift cards to Ulta so I think I might be getting this sometime (hopefully when we have another Gustavos weekend!)

I don't really have any designer lipsticks therefore, I would love to try Nars Audacious lipsticks! Like the other two product brands, I've heard some good reviews on this too! Look at that packaging, it's so pretty. I also like how the top is magnetic so there's no chance of dirt getting into the lipstick.

Annabella - poppy red

Claudia - cool pink

Hey y'all!  Megan here.  I really only have two things for my wish list, but they're both a little more expensive than I want to spend.  (Wishing for some Christmas money!!)

Two of the Timewise trio

The first is Mary Kay's Timewise 3 step cleansing system.  It retails through Mary Kay at around $90ish, so it's really more of a dream product for me at the moment.  I have a friend who is a Mary Kay lady, and every time I go over for a party or something and I use it, my face always feels super smooth.  I also have really bad combination skin, and it keeps down oil while moisturizing my dry areas.  It's fantastic.

My other wishlist item is the Urban Decay Naked palletes.  Any of them.  I love how pigmented the shadows are and the sheer variety of neutrals that Urban Decay has blows my mind.  Any time I get to play around with one of the palletes, I'm like a kid in a candy store!  Any of those retail around $50.

Today's look.

I thought I would try out some of my sephora Black Friday deals today and this is the look I came up with.

Products used:
Foundation primer - Sephora anti shine foundation primer
Eye primer - MICA Beauty Cosmetics eye primer
Foundation - Loreal True Match warm light ivory
Powder- Mary Kay translucent loose powder
Eye shadow - Ulta eye shadow quad 13525
Blush - Tarte Magic
Mascara - Tarte lights, camera, lashes
Lip liner - NYC lip liner pencil 956A
Lip stick - Smashbox be legendary lipstick fig
Lip gloss - Bite lush lip currant

Makeup tip- While doing my makeup this morning, the worst thing could happen did. I blinked while putting my mascara on... I had it everywhere on the bottom lashes and some even on top of my eye lid. A lil tip that I learned from Amber when this happens is to wait till the mascara dries, which is probably the hardest thing for me to do, then get a q-tip (or cotton swab, because it was the only thing I had at the time) and wipe it off. It will practically come up on its own. I like to make the q-tip just a lil damp with water that seems to help.If you get some on your eye lid after doing your shadow, just wipe the mascara off and add some more shadow to it.

Beauty is Pain

Hey guys!

Back home, I've been going to the same hair dresser for years, as in my first hair coloring was done by her.  And she is FANTASTIC with eyebrows.  The sad part is, I only get to go home a couple times a month and hair appointments are few and far between with those.  So, it's fair to say that my brows are a mess.  I'd try a place here in Fayetteville, where I go to university, but it can range from $15 to $20 for an eyebrow wax versus the $5 I pay back home.  As a poor college kid, I say no thanks. I had to do something about these monsters above my eyes.

I looked around online for a good tutorial for tweezing... which I normally avoid because MAJOR PAIN and tears... and I came across a great tutorial here.  The Beauty Department has saved my (limited) beauty life many times in the past, so I trust them.  I skipped a couple of steps, mostly out of fear, also out of lack of baby scissors. (Let me wait until winter break, where if I mess it up, I can hide for a month or so, haha).

I used a skinny paint brush handle to mark my brow boundaries. (Pardon the horrible lighting, I am in no way a photographer).
Inner corner, edge of iris, outer corner, all marked.

Then came the pain.  I am a wuss when it comes to pain.  Tears were forming and I was making sounds that reminded my roommate of a drowning cat.  No lie, she came to my bathroom to check on me.  Sorry!!
Before/After
I avoided doing too much on top, minus minor clean up.  You can tell how bad the top was, but the bottom, although it didn't photograph as well, was just as bad.  Satisfied that I'd done as much as I could, I moved to my other eye and followed the same process (except the roommate bit, she knew this time haha).
A before picture, see how bad these were?!
Finally the pain was over.  Ah, the sweet bliss an ice cube can bring to a swollen eyebrow...  Anyway, I think they came out as good as I could make them.  I much prefer getting them waxed, however.  All the pain comes at once.
Finished product!
What do y'all think?  Not too shabby, if I do say so myself.  What's your preference, pluck or wax?  Let us know below!

Sephora Black Friday 2014

At work today, I recieved an email that my Sephora Black Friday deals were shipped and at my house. So of course, I was super excited to get home and open that box up! Sephora had a great deal going on with designer makeup for $10 for their Black Friday sale. Also if you entered a promo code you received a free bag with 12 samples in it. I had to take advantage of that. A lil thing about my small town is, well, it's a small town! We don't have a Sephora or Ulta, sad I know. So when I shop makeup and beauty, it will be online or until I drive 100 miles to civilization. Lol.  You'll also see me doing a lot of drugstore makeup too. Back to topic! This is my Sephora Black Friday Haul. :)

Most of all these products I have never tried out, actually I haven't tried any of them. Almost all these products are deluxe sized samples except for the Purity cleanser and Makeup Forever lip glosses, those both are full size.

I was about to say I wish I knew what colors I received but it dawned on me to look on the bottom of the products. Duh! #StillLearning

Anyways, I will be doing a product review on everything very soon! Probably this weekend or next week I will have it up with swatches and all!

Meet Us!

Hi, I'm Ashley. A lil bit about me.
I'm 23 years old. I live in Missouri. I love makeup, obliviously or I wouldn't have suggested this idea to my friends. I love having a blast with these girls. So this is our adventure throughout the beauty and health aisles at the makeup and drug stores. 😄
Ashley

Hi! Megan here.
I'm also 23, and I live in Missouri but am a student at the University of Arkansas.  I am a makeup novice and mostly stick to nail polish and the like.  It's always a crazy adventure with these two.  I just let them lead most of the time.
